He earned MS (General Surgery) and MCh (Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery) after training at the Sri Chitra Tirunal Institute. He is Chair and Director of Thoracic Organ Transplants & Assist Devices at KIMS Heart & Lung Transplant Institute, having established transplant centres across India and overseas. His team has performed hundreds of heart and lung transplants, LVAD implants, including many double-lung transplants for COVID-damaged lungs. He is on an international consensus panel for lung transplant guidelines and serves as a proctor for leading mechanical circulatory support devices.
